Professor Morgan Heikal heads up the Centre for Automotive Engineering (CAE) based at the Sir Harry Ricardo Laboratories (SHRL) within the University of Brighton. This vibrant centre produces groundbreaking research into internal combustion engines and the development of laser-based diagnostic measurement techniques, which are fundamental to modelling and computational simulation.
Under his leadership, the centre has achieved international recognition in the automotive industry. Collaborating extensively, CAE researchers have worked with over 40 academic institutions and 30 industrial partners. Notably, he has helped to develop an ongoing partnership with Ricardo UK Ltd, a leading technology provider and strategic consultancy for the world’s transportation sector and clean energy industries.
Professor Heikal is involved in the profession through his activities in the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), which includes serving on a number of committees and consultation on issues affecting the profession such as accreditation of engineering degrees and learned society activities. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) and current chairman of the UK Universities Internal Combustion Engines Group (UnICEG).
